University of Charleston School of Pharmacy

Enhancing academic success through learning analytics while optimizing efficiency with a lean team and budget

Overview

The University of Charleston School of Pharmacy faced challenges in managing accreditation standards, tracking at-risk students, and evaluating curriculum effectiveness—all within the constraints of a small team and a limited budget. Traditional processes were increasingly complex, emphasizing the need for a more efficient, data-driven approach.
By implementing Enflux’s learning analytics platform for pharmacy programs, the school centralized data management, reduced faculty workload, and improved decision-making. This transformation led to key institutional achievements, including ACPE accreditation standards compliance, recognition for Noteworthy Practices during the site visit, and a 100% student retention rate in 2024.
The implementation of Enflux allowed our pharmacy school to really achieve some pretty significant outcomes with a leaner personnel structure. These resourceful solutions for data management and integration turn our constraints into really a pathway for innovation and success.

The problem

The University of Charleston School of Pharmacy faced critical challenges, including financial sustainability concerns, rising student attrition rates, faculty burnout, and declining enrollments. Limited resources and traditional methods made it difficult to track student progress, assess curriculum effectiveness, and meet pharmacy program accreditation standards with the necessary level of precision. With assessment responsibilities concentrated in a single-person department, maintaining accountability and driving institutional improvements became increasingly difficult.

The solution

To address these challenges, the school implemented Enflux’s learning analytics platform for pharmacy programs, leading to measurable improvements in student outcomes and institutional efficiency. A 6% reduction in course failures and a 100% student retention rate in 2024 reflected the impact of early identification and intervention strategies enabled by real-time data insights.
Enflux also streamlined reporting for ACPE accreditation standards, automated student performance tracking, and centralized data for better decision-making. By reducing administrative workload, the platform saved six hours per semester during term interventions and eliminated the need for additional full-time staff while maintaining strong student support. These enhancements were pivotal in securing an 8-year ACPE accreditation renewal and earning recognition for three “Noteworthy Practices” in data-driven assessment and co-curricular development.
The school strengthened student success efforts through data-driven decision-making while maintaining financial sustainability, demonstrating a scalable model for achieving academic excellence in pharmacy programs.
